Moving Forward with so many things

It is amazing how stress free my life is now. Seriously. Not financially, that part will never be stress free but emotionally it is. I am not feeling well today. I have a cold (as does my husband) we know we got it from the 40 degree weather this past weekend on our first official cub scout weekend camping trip. It was cold for us and although it was warm during the day, as soon as the sun dropped it turned very chilly.
So, not feeling well and normally the boys would trounce on that opportunity to run all over me. I don't often get sick but sometimes I get busy etc.. they take full advantage of that. I was surprised that after breakfast was over they both moved to their computers and signed on to do their lessons without even a nudge.
I usually look at the time when I see that they begin. Depending on how they are doing with their lessons it can take them anywhere from an hour to two. It also depends on how stubborn my 6 year old is. My oldest son usually "reads" some of his younger brother's assignments and tests with him which does not bother me in the least. Truthfully the 6 year old is so far ahead that I see him passing his brother at some point which will bring on a whole new set of problems between the two boys. For now I am happy that they can "share" in their assignments and for right now it is review for the 9 year old so I look at it as a positive thing.
Hopefully tomorrow I will feel better but if I don't, it will be interesting to see how they do with their schoolwork. Thankfully we all love their curriculum and that helps make life so much easier..... Now where did I put those attendance sheets that I need to fill in???? goodness at my forgetfulness....

We Use Time4Learning!

Time4Learning is a very popular phrase in our home. We began using it almost 3 months ago and I think that all my reasons for using an online curriculum have completely gone out the window.

My boys enjoy every bit of their school work.... Well, in comparison they do.... They still balk at quizzes and tests, they still complain about the "writing" that they are required to do, but overall our house is so much better this year. We truly found a winner and will encourage everyone to try it out.

Life is funny..... Never would I think that my two boys would ever discuss school work, lessons and things that they have learned so intently as they do now. Riding in the car is fun when a subject comes up that they learned. They could be discussing the latest science project or place they want to visit that they read about in social studies. Both get so into talking about the subject and I find it amusing when/if they disagree with one another for some reason, by the time we get home they are signing on to see who was correct with a fact.

We have really enjoyed the last couple months and this year truly is the best so far!

I will be posting more about T4L as this blog progresses but if you have any questions about it, sign on to Time4Learning and have your child try out the Lesson Demos! It really convinced us and when my boys were done they were begging for more!

Welcome to our little world..

Our little world is made up of a whole lot of family.... A few animals and a great deal of love.... Welcome to my homeschooling blog and the story that just keeps getting better......

We began homeschooling when my oldest son, now 9, was just 3 years old. The day he came home from the hospital I knew that there was no way to go back to work. When he was born I cried, I knew that this little boy was the love of my life and that he had my heart from the moment I laid eyes on him. He was amazing to watch and is wonderful to have around. You really can't get enough of him.

When he was almost 3 he helped us welcome his brother to the world. He watched him minutes after he was born and just about saw him before I did. He stood at the window and waited to see his brother for the first time. When his brother came home with me from the hospital there was never an adjustment, his brother demanded every bit of love and attention that he could get and fit in like he had always been there..... The two boys share little moments that I love to see and I can't get enough of those times when they are so at peace with each other and quietly doing something or involved so deeply with one another that no outside influence can break it.

My two boys... They are so different in every way. They compliment each other in life but it is really amazing that they have the same parents, one getting the strengths the other lacks. The each pull at your heart and make you love them from the moment you meet them.
Even the way they go to bed and get up in the morning is so very different, one never sleeping and the other falling fast asleep, one waking cheerful and loving and one like me; unable to even speak or acknowledge the world around him!

One is musical, the other is an artist... One excelling in Math, the other in English... One shy, the other outgoing... One you can't stop, the other cautious of the world....

Those are my boys.... Loving and wonderful and making our family come together.
